Inspiration. The film was inspired when Estefanía Gutiérrez Lázaro (1973–1991) reportedly suffered hallucinations and seizures after performing a séance at a school in Madrid to try to contact her friend's deceased boyfriend who had died six months earlier. Her exact cause of death is a mystery.

One of the most disturbing banned movies is the 1980 slasher Maniac. It features a man with psychopathic tendencies as he goes on a murderous rampage in New York. The film features extensive scenes showing egregious murder by scalping, earning it several bans.

If you're a horror fan, this is a great movie to watch. It's a fresh breath from the "cookie cutter" paranormal movies, while at the same time has some elements that can spook you. I don't get scared by too many movies, and while this one didn't scare me, it kept me entertained.
